One Full Week Before Treatment:

  1. Discontinue any topical prescriptions or any products containing Retinol or Vitamin A
  2. Avoid waxing, electrolysis, and laser hair removal
  3. Avoid sun exposure (indoor & outdoor)
  4. Do not receive Botox or facial fillers
  5. Do not have any other skin treatments unless recommended

The Day Of Treatment:

  1. Discontinue all use of alpha hydroxy Acid (AHA), beta hydroxy acid (BHA) and benzoyl peroxide
  2. Stop exfoliating products that may be drying or irritating
  3. No shaving to be done day of in areas of treatment

Immediately Post Needling:

After your needling treatment do not use any skincare products that have not been approved by your Skin specialist.  Your treatment was finished with products that are safe to be left on your skin for the evening.    You may start your POST TREATMENT KIT 12-24 hours post needling, or the I RESCUE post treatment balm as recommended.  A powder mineral makeup with SPF can be worn the following day.

Days 1-7:

Continue using your Post Treatment Kit for the full 7 days post treatment, following the instructions on the back on the kit.   The Vital C Hydrating Enzyme Masque may be applied 2-3 times during the week to reduce any visible shedding/flaking, while infusing the skin with antioxidants to protect and hydrate. Refrain from exercise or saunas etc until skin has calmed down and redness has subsided.

Microneedling treatments are done in intervals of 5-6 weeks

Realself  recently conducted a survey of 500 board-certified plastic surgeons about what they believe the hottest aesthetic trend is. The most popular answer? Microneedling.

Microneedling is a collagen induction therapy that is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure involving the use of the Dermaroller eDermastamp device that contains fine needles.  The Dermaroller® causes minimally invasive precision micro-injuries of the epidermis and dermis, without causing open wounds or ablative damage. The puncturing channels close after a short time and these micro-injuries trigger the body’s wound healing cascade, which induces an increased collagen production in the treated skin. Dermaroller® triggers the construction of new tissue by stimulating healthy cell regeneration in precision-targeted areas that show the signs of aging. It effectively reduces wrinkles, tightens and thickens the skin, and – perhaps most impressively – fills and smooths scars.

Microneedling is known to naturally smooth, tighten and target aging areas of the face and body. Microneedling treats and prevents wrinkles, aging skin, surgical and hypertrophic scars, stretch marks, acne and pitted scars, sagging skin, hyperpigmentation, UV damage, Rosacea, and Melasma.

Treating skin conditions such as Melasma and Rosacea with Microneedling can be highly effective. If you suffer from either of these similar skin conditions, you already know there are very few ways to effectively treat your skin discoloration concerns. Microneedling combined with Image Skincare Iluma Brightening, and Vital C lines are  the most effective in-studio treatment we prescribe for our Melasma and Rosacea clients. Within the consultation, we will determine if it is necessary to “pre-treat” the areas of concern 6 weeks prior to needling, for optimal results.

Yes, this is absolutely true. Microneedling does boost product absorption and effectiveness by up to 1000% during the first hour after your treatment. This is why we pair your Microneedling treatment with sterile Hyaluronic Acid.  The channels created by the microneedles create a conduit for maximum product absorption into the dermis layer of the skin.

First your face is thoroughly cleansed with a gentle cleanser. Then a topical anesthetic is applied to your skin for 20 minutes before your treatment. When the treatment begins, a sterile hyaluronic acid will be applied to help the eDermastamp gently glide over your skin. The needling itself typically feels like a slight vibration, and almost like a massage with tingling on your skin. During the collagen induction process, the tiny needles in the eDermastamp will penetrate through your skin creating tiny micro-lesions.  These mico-lesions will trigger the production of your very own growth factors that  result in collagen production.  Downtime with microneedling is minimal, however does differ from person to person.  You should expect redness in the treated areas for the first 24-48 hours, and may feel similar to a mild sunburn.

During the next 48 hours post-treatment, you should avoid working out, hot showers, massages, and sun exposure.  A full post- care will be given after your needling procedure.

Dermaroller®’s surgical-grade micro-needles reach beyond the epidermis into the dermis, causing pin-point bleeding and triggering the body’s spontaneous healing response.

Within minutes, the perforation channels close and the healing cascade starts, invading the area with collagen-producing fibroblasts and growth-promoting properties

New organized collagen & elastin forms, bolstering from within, while the epidermis becomes thicker and more supple, each time a treatment is performed.

We have younger Microneedling clients with acne scars and more mature Microneedling clients with sun damage and wrinkles. Microneedling results are naturally beautiful, and it’s also a chemical free treatment in which no foreign substances are injected. Your skin will become thicker and collagen and elastin production will increase.  In other treatments involving ablative or heat methods, cicatricial healing is triggered, and type I collagen forms from the top down in the dermal layer. The major benefit of Microneedling is the growth factors released trigger regenerative healing. This type of healing is comprised of type III collagen (which is the “basket weave” fluffy formation and the type we want!) forming from the base upwards in the dermal layer.

Microneedling will combat a variety of common skin care concerns, including scarring, stretch marks, melasma, lines, wrinkles, texture and more. The results are smoother, thicker, tighter, more even-toned skin. The phases of collagen induction include:

  1. Inflammationbegins immediately during your treatment.
  2. An Inflammatory Responsewill trigger tissue generation. Your very own natural growth factors will cause your body to produce healthy tissue.
  3. New tissue Formationwill continue for up to 1-year post treatment.

Treatments vary depending on skin conditions. We typically recommend between 3-6 sessions with 4-6 weeks in between sessions, with maintenance treatments 2-3X per year

When it comes to minimally invasive treatments, Micro-needling Collagen Induction therapy with the Dermaroller® is clinically proven and is perhaps the most successful treatment available for the common signs and symptoms of aging such as wrinkles, loss of skin volume, and crepey skin. The Dermaroller® micro-needling treatment even targets the epidermis in such a way that it is clinically proven to minimize scars and stretch marks. Dermaroller® therapy triggers the body’s spontaneous healing process, stimulating cell proliferation and causing the formation of new collagen. This results in a thicker, more supple, cellular matrix. Results: visibly younger looking skin.

PROOF: The image shows a biopsy of the epidermis before and after micro-needling therapy. Significant new collagen (dyed purple) has been generated, 6 weeks after a single treatment.

Not all microneedling is created equal.   At Prim Brow Bar + Skin Studio, we are proud to use one the highest quality, medical grade/German made microneedling devices on the market today. The Dermaroller eDermastamp device, needle and all corresponding Dermaroller products are Health Canada approved.  The Dermaroller® is ISO13485 certified, meeting all standards for medical-grade equipment in manufacturing, materials, sterile packaging and more.  The medical-grade micro-needles of the Dermaroller® are atraumatic (non-traumatic) cone-shaped needles that displace the skin during the puncture process, creating a micro-wound that seals within minutes of treatment. Poorer quality devices are made with knife-shaped needles that slice through tissue and risk causing traumatic skin, vessel and nerve damage.   There are countless imitation products on the market that are not licensed by Health Canada so we recommend you do your research, to protect your health and safety.
